Growth Hacking

Growth hacking is the latest trend and I am assuming that’s why you are here :). Let me  start with a simple definition for growth hacking :

What is Growth hacking ?

Growth hacking is a technique where your ultimate goal is to bring tremendous growth rates in acquiring high quality (active or highly engaging) new customers. A growth hacker or  the growth team members focuses solely on Growth and leverages the best distribution channels to succeed in achieving the stunning results.

Sean Ellis (Founder of Qualroo and startup advisor) coined the term “Growth hacking” in 2010. He defined growth hacker as a individual who focuses only on growth – Everything they do is scrutinized by its potential impact on scalable growth. Andrew Chen also played a big role in spreading the idea to a larger audience by adding the blog “Growth Hacking is the new VP Marketing“.

Here are the early adopters of this technique on the internet :

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Dropbox
  • AirBnB
  • Linkedin
  • Pinterest
  • Instagram

As you know all these companies are known for their user base and their growth teams were secret behind the big numbers.
